Each category will be judged by a panel of expert judges. Their job is to review every entry, rating them against the criteria set for each category.
Chief Executive Officer - PD Ports
Frans joined PD Ports in May 2008 as Key Projects Director and member of the Senior Executive Team.
Having started his career at the Port of Rotterdam, Frans brings considerable experience in the development of container terminals throughout Europe and in the USA, gained during a very progressive career within APM Terminals.
As Senior Project Manager Business Development for APM Terminals International, he led the $100 million JV Project between APMT and CMA/CGM to deliver a 30 year concession for the port of Mobile, Alabama. In his last role as General Manager Project Implementation and Business Development, amongst other notable achievements Frans had been instrumental in the successful APMT bid for the first concession at the new Rotterdam Maasvlakte 2 development.
Frans was appointed Chief Executive Officer of PD Ports in 2017.
In the last nine years, Frans has been instrumental in the successful strategic transformation of Teesport’s container platform, which has led to consistent positive growth in container volumes through the acquisition of new business; affirming PD Ports’ position as a lead player in UK portcentric logistics.
International Trade Director - Chamber International
Tim is a key figure within the UK Chamber of Commerce Network with a career in international trade spanning more than 40 years. Since 2003 he’s worked to develop Chamber International into one of the most effective and sophisticated organisations of its kind boasting 3,000 UK clients and strategic partners across the world. Tim was made a Fellow of The Institute of Export & International Trade in 2017.
Head, UK regions - Yorkshire and Humber, Northern Powerhouse - Department for International Trade (DIT)
Mark Robson is the Head for the DIT in the Yorkshire & Humber region, which is now part of the DIT Northern Powerhouse team. He is responsible for helping the region’s firms identify and take advantage of business opportunities overseas.
Mark is leading on encouraging more companies to export and looking at supply chains for the Northern Powerhouse team.
Prior to joining DIT, Mark worked as international strategy manager for Yorkshire Forward (RDA) and International Trade Advisor at Business Link Humberside. He has held a number of other positions in the public and private sector in the UK and overseas.
Mark has an MBA from the University of Durham Business School and an MA in Economics amongst other academic and business qualifications.
Director, Corporate, Global Trade and Receivables Finance - HSBC BANK PLC
Karen is the Senior International Trade Director for HSBC in West Yorkshire.
She supports businesses that Trade internationally, working closely with colleagues in HSBC’s Corporate Centre in Leeds as well as more widely across the UK, Europe, Far East and around the world in HSBC’s network of offices in 66 countries.
Karen has enjoyed a wide-ranging career spanning 30 years plus in Midland Bank and HSBC, working in several northern cities including Leeds, Bradford, York, Hull, Sheffield, Newcastle and Edinburgh. She has spent the majority of her career involved with International Trade, both operationally dealing with Trade documentation, and front line working face to face with International businesses.
She is passionate about supporting businesses in the Northern Powerhouse to expand their international trade.
